(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) The 2010 Pegasus Pins that serve as tickets for entry into Kentucky Derby Festival activities in the weeks before the big horse race have gone on sale.
Officials with the Kentucky Derby Festival say the $4 pins are on sale this week at all O'Charley's restaurants in the Louisville area. Festival organizers say the pins will go on sale Monday at more than 1,000 retail outlets.
Also available will be Family Fun Packs of five pins for $16.
The theme of the pins this year is Spring Fever Reliever.
The plastic pins were first introduced in 1973 as an awareness campaign for the festival and have now become one of four primary sources of funding for Derby Festival events.
