Jack Crowner, 'voice of agriculture' dies

(Louisville) The “voice of agriculture” has died.

Longtime radio and television farm broadcaster Jack Crowner died Thursday at the age of 81.

Crowner was a veteran of over 60 years in farm broadcasting, providing reports for WHAS, WAVE and other radio and TV stations in Kentucky and Indiana.

Raised on a dairy farm in Michigan, Crowner graduated from Michigan State University and retired as a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force Reserve.

In 2008, Jack Crowner was inducted into the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame.
