Land Between Lakes delays reopening due to roads

GOLDEN POND, Ky. (AP) — Ice-covered roads will cause a delay in plans to reopen offices and facilities at Land Between The Lakes on Thursday.

Area Supervisor Tina Tilley says facilities may not open to the public at all this week.

Tilley says employees are trying to clear areas that remain ice-covered, including roads leading into the facilities and parking areas.

Opening status will be updated on the Land Between The Lakes website at http://www.lbl.org .

Turkey Bay off-highway vehicle area remains closed due to saturated soil conditions.

Travel through Land Between The Lakes should be done with caution because roads are heavily ice- and snow-covered. Saturated soil conditions are leading to ice-covered trees and limbs falling throughout the area. Officials advise staying off the roads there unless travel is necessary until temperatures stay above freezing.
