The Friends of Nolin Lake will be offering a CPR Training class on September 18th at the Wax Volunteer Fire Department, 48 Tara Road, Clarkson, KY 42726. Sallie Moore, certified instructor will teach the course.  This one day class from 10:00am – 3:00pm will only cost $15 and will include hands-on training, CPR certification card, and protective pocket mask.  Bring your own lunch.  A special thank you to Grayson County EMS and Wax Volunteer Fire Department for their help with this class.

Learning CPR is key to saving the life of someone who is in cardiac arrest or drowning, and it's quite possible that you might have the opportunity to save someone you know.  According to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, eight out of every 10 cardiac arrests take place at home.  That means the best chance of survival for someone you care about lies in your hands. Cardiac arrest occurs when a person stops breathing and has no heartbeat.  Survival depends on bystanders. Outcomes may be decided before a victim gets to the hospital.  Everyone should know how to access EMS (emergency medical services) and know CPR.

The Friends of Nolin Lake strive to promote, preserve, and enhance Nolin River Lake and the surrounding communities.  That includes keeping residents and visitors on and around the lake safe and prepared.  You never know when you will be faced with an emergency situation.  Last year’s ice storm is an example of when it would have been nice to have someone in your neighborhood with CPR training.  Restaurants and other public businesses should consider having at least one employee trained in life saving techniques.  Now is the time to gain confidence to respond in an emergency situation with skills that can save a life.

Registration is required for this CPR training event. To register for this course send your registration fee of $15 to Friends of Nolin Lake, P.O. Box 184, Clarkson, KY 42726, contact Glenna Black at 270-899-0066 or email friendsofnolinlake@yahoo.com.  If you would like to become involved with the Friends of Nolin Lake, open meetings are held the third Tuesday of every month at 9:30 am at Legacy Golf course restaurant.
