Police told The Ledger Independent that 57-year-old Dallas Carpenter of Emerson was arrested after being indicted on two counts of murder and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Reports from the Morehead Police Department say Carpenter's blood alcohol level at the time of the crash was 0.21 — over the legal limit.

Police say 91-year-old Lena Boyd and her husband, 89-year-old Roy Urvin Boyd, of Rowan County, died after the May 25 crash on Kentucky 32 in Morehead.

Carpenter was arrested Aug. 23 and then released. His arraignment is Sept. 8.

His attorney, Michael Curtis, was out of the office Thursday and did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
