Marie Steff Evans, 92



Marie Steff Evans, age 92, of Clarkson, KY, passed away Sunday, (February 2, 2014) at Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield, KY.

She was born on March 25, 1921, in Ohio County, KY, the daughter of the late Ernest Sr. and Ora Wright Steff.

She retired as a ward clerk from St. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital in 1982, and lived in Clarkson since that time.  Marie enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, and canning. She was married to Hilbert S. Evans, who preceded her in death in 1952. A daughter-in-law, Linda Evans, also preceded her in death in 2004. She was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star-Caneyville Chapter, and a life member of Southern Star Chapter #154.  She was a member of the Caneyville Baptist Church for 60 years.

She leaves behind her son, James H. Evans and his wife Carole, of Louisville; a special nephew, Ernie Steff and wife Connie of Butler County; two grandchildren, Tonya Evans of Louisville, and Lisa Blaydes and husband Darrell of Brandenburg; three great-grandchildren, Jennifer, and James Machalo, and Hayley Evans; three great-nephews, Ernie Wayne Steff, Mike and Greg Givens; and many friends and neighbors.

Other than her parents, husband, and daughter-in-law, she was preceded in death by one sister, Edna Pharris, and one brother, Ernest (Buck) Steff, Jr.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, (February 6, 2014) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Chester Shartzer will be officiating. Burial will be in the Layman Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until time of services.

An Eastern Star service will be held on Wednesday night at 7:00p.m.
