8th Grade GCMS Volleyball Team GRVC Champs
(Breckinridge County, KY) – The Grayson County Middle School 8th Grade Volleyball Team brought home the hardware for the first time Tuesday evening after winning two of three matches against the St. Romuald Rebels at St. Romuald in the GRVC 8th Grade Tournament.
The GCMS volleyball team formed last year under the coaching of GCMS Teacher Shane Decker, and Assistant Coaches Carla Butler, Amanda Thomas, and Kelsey Skaggs, is a young team with only two years experience under their belt.  The program was created to help be a feeder program for the high school team.
The 8th graders on the team playing all-around were Miranda Boaz and Mallory Thomas with rotated setting help from their teammates Hannah Clemons and Saylor Huff.  8th Grade player Allie James was unable to play due to family illness.
The 8th graders were help tremendously by several 7th graders who played up to round out the team.
The girls fell to the Rebels during the first match but came back to win the next two matches with Miranda Boaz serving the winning blow.
The 7th grade team lost Monday night to the Rebels in the GRVC.
