Pat Brooks, 74, of Caneyville, passed away Tuesday, December 31st, 2013 at the Norton’s Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville.
He was born on May 20th, 1939 in Grayson County, the son of the late Jack and Gladys (Lewis) Brooks. Pat owned and operated the Brooks Service Station & Coffee Shop in Caneyville for 51 years. He also served in the United States Army.
Pat is survived by 5 sons, Terry Brooks, Charlie Brooks, Jeff Brooks (Ann) and Michael Brooks (Stephanie) all of Caneyville and Patrick Brooks (Lori) of Short Creek; 2 daughters, Sherry Vincent (Granvil) of Millwood and Tammy Bratcher (Norman) of Short Creek; a special friend, Betty White of Short Creek; 4 brothers, Buddy Brooks (Peggy) of Leitchfield, Donald Brooks (Fran) and Ronald Brooks (Sandy) both of Caneyville and Raymond Brooks (Charolett) of Louisville; 1 sister, Emma L. Hayes of Louisville; 14 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Pat is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Gladys Brooks.
Funeral services will be Sunday, January 5th at 2:00 p.m. at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville. Bro Bob Sutton and Bro Buddy Brooks will be officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Friday after 5:00 p.m., Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the New Hope Cemetery Fund.
