(FRANKFORT, Ky) Republican U.S. Senate candidate Rand Paul is back in scrubs for his first TV ad of the fall campaign, declaring he is a physician, not a career politician.
Paul easily won Kentucky's May primary by running as a political outsider, an approach he intends to use in the general election against Democrat Jack Conway, the state's elected attorney general.
The ad that is scheduled to begin airing statewide on Wednesday shows Paul intermittently in scrubs and in a white physicians coat with the voice of a female narrator declaring that he always puts patients first.
Campaign manager Jesse Benton declined to give a dollar figure on the ad buy, but the Conway campaign estimated it at about $250,000.
Conway went up with its first TV ad in late August.
