Semi vs. dump truck wreck on Parkway sends two to ER

The Leitchfield Fire and Grayson County Sheriff’s Departments responded to an accident at the 101 mile marker of the Western Kentucky Parkway around 10:00 on Thursday morning. Deputies, though, soon left the scene soon because Kentucky State Troopers had already arrived at the accident.

A semi-truck, owned Top Notch Trucking, rear-ended a Jeff Lear Trucking dump truck in the Westbound lane of the Parkway, in a construction area. The semi was carrying a load of potting soil and mulch, while the dump truck was carrying rocks.

As the semi-truck struck the rear of the dump truck, the large rocks being carried by the dump truck became airborne and broke the windshield of the semi, striking the tractor-trailer’s driver in the head, causing a large gash in the driver’s forehead.

Both drivers were transported to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center by EMS with non-life threatening injuries.
