Two serious ATV wrecks in less than two weeks

For the second time in less than two weeks, a Hardin County resident was involved in a serious ATV accident.

Kentucky State Police are investigating a single vehicle ATV accident that occurred on Springfield Road, just east of Elizabethtown. Sunday night about 11:30, 20-year old Brice Taylor of Elizabethtown was operating a 2009 Honda Rubicon eastbound when he struck a deer that crossed the roadway.

The collision caused Taylor to lose control of the ATV resulting in him being thrown off of the ATV, he then struck his head on the pavement (he was not wearing a helmet). The ATV overturned in a ditch on the north side of the roadway.

Taylor was airlifted by AirMethods to University of Louisville Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he is listed in critical condition.

Taylor's 17-year old sister, Brianna Taylor, was tragically killed in a car wreck on June 22 in Elizabethtown when 34-year old Michael Hilton ran a stop sign, colliding with Taylor's vehicle, killer her and gravely injuring her passenger, 18-year old Mickayla Harig.

Hilton has been charged with murder and aggravated DUI. He is being held on a $1 million bond.

Taylor’s wreck comes on the heels of the June 21 UTV accident near Shady Lane Drive not far from Nolin Lake, which resulted in the death of 67-year old Elizabethown resident Allen Davies.

Davies was reportedly operating the UTV on rough terrain when he hit a rock, throwing him off the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
