Veggie Trails Made at Caneyville and Wilkey Elementary Schools
Members of DECA and HOSA teamed up to take Caneyville and Wilkey kindergartners on a trip down “Veggie Trails”. Students could taste new treats, make a healthy plate, even “play” with their food as they learned how good choices can help them grow up healthy and strong, ready to learn every day. The project was initiated by Megan Poindexter, a junior at GCHS and DECA member. The Veggie Trails project included all elementary schools. The team visited Clarkson and Lawler last fall.
Black-eyed peas and Cuties were on the menu for taste testing.
Students had fun deciding whether to say “Whoa”, “Slow” or “Go” to different types of food.
“My Plate” is the new Food Pyramid, and the kindergartners got to display their artistic talents while showing how much of each food group should be on a healthy plate.
