Student Actors Use Myth to Share Message
(Clarkson, KY) - A cultural experience mixed with mythology and an anti-bullying message recently brought down the house at Clarkson Elementary. The event, sponsored by the Grayson County Public Library, was performed by the Western Kentucky University Theater Department as part of their annual fall schools tour. The original work was written and directed by WKU student Whitney Hendry, who herself had performed at the school a few years ago. Combining curriculum, a positive message and popular music, the troupe dazzled, danced and sang to their way through a tale of triumph between some not-quite-ready-for-prime-time Greek gods and goddesses vs. soon-to-become Titans.  Afterward, students had the opportunity to create their own myth as an improvisational performance for the actors, and talk with them about both performing and college life.
