Clarkson’s Police Chief Jeff King is now driving the city’s new Dodge Charger police cruiser the city recently purchased. The commissioners decided during their Monday night meeting to keep the old police car through the winter in case the city needs it. The commissioners debated on selling the car. The Dodge Charger is not the only addition to the city’s fleet this year, the Clarkson Fire Department should receive their new fire truck they received a grant to purchase, sometime next month. The commissioners also agreed during the meeting to purchase a new garbage truck for the city.
The city is continuing to look at grants that may be able to help fund a city community center. The previous grant the city was hoping to apply for turned out to be a grant for a senior citizens center only. Mayor Bonnie Henderson said she would continue to work on the idea.
