(Leitchfield, KY) – A crowd of around 200 people gathered Thursday evening, Feb. 7, 2013 to send-off the Grayson County Cheerleaders to Orlando, Florida where they will compete in national competition for the first time in school history. The girls will compete on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.
Superintendent Barry Anderson congratulated the girls on their accomplishments as Board of Education Chair Carolyn Thomason gave each girl a “high-five.” Grayson Count Sheriff’s Deputy Bryan Hammons spoke a few words of encouragement to the girls after Leitchfield Mayor William Thomason read a proclamation to the girls on their behalf and gave each a copy.
A group of local pastors prayed with the girls and their families before they loaded the bus.
The girls were escorted out of town with a police escort.
The team is coached by teachers Ginny Payne and Tina Poindexter.
