WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Brett Guthrie today issued the following statement following a renewed effort in the U.S. Senate for a balanced-budget amendment to the Constitution:
“I am pleased to see that my Senate colleagues are working to address Washington’s biggest problem – runaway spending. A balanced-budget amendment would put to rest widespread concerns about our country’s fiscal health – concerns that have frustrated our economic recovery and jeopardized our national security.
“I came to Washington hopeful that I could make things better for my children. A balanced-budget amendment would ensure that we don’t gift them the debt of our past and present.”
