After an incredible community send off celebration and a 16 hour bus ride, The Grayson County Middle School Cheerleaders once again made school history by competing in the Universal Cheerleading Association's National Competition in Orlando, Florida, being named the 10th best Large Division Middle School Cheer Squad in the country. Through a day of intense competition in front of huge crowds at Walt Disney World's Wide World of Sports Complex, the girls put on a flawless performance and earned the national ranking. The squad has had a remarkable year, earning many local and regional wins, a first ever state title for Grayson County, and now a National ranking. GCMS Cheerleaders are: 8th grade- Alayna Johnston, Allyson Vincent, Avery Sedam, Bailey Sedam, Challee Shartzer, Chesney Willcuts, Haley Sanders, Kristen Shartzer, Samantha Imbresia, and Makayla Wiseman. 7th Graders are: Amanda Decker, Ashley McKinney, Celeste Foreman, Elizabeth Goff, Grace Haycraft, and Sarah Conder. 6th Graders are: Brianna Jackson, Jasmine Cottrell, Katie Poindexter, and Brooklyn Webb. Coaches are Ginny Paine and Tina Poindexter. The cheerleaders, their coaches, and parents would like to thank the many businesses and individuals that have helped support theim, and make their dreams become reality. The team will have a special recognition at the Grayson County Board of Education monthly meeting on February 14th.
