(Falls of Rough, KY) – A total of four people have suffered injuries this week in accidents worked by the Grayson County Sheriff’s Department.
A dump truck, owned by Lowes Concrete Company, overturned on Post Tousey Road in the Falls of Rough area Thursday, March 28, 2013, just after 2:00 p.m.
According to Detective Jeff Kelsey, who responded to the accident, the driver, Eddie D. Joyce (52) of Leitchfield, said he was headed down a small hill and curve when he thinks the tire dropped off of the roadway on the south bound side.
The dump truck left the roadway and rolled over, coming to rest in the field on the south bound side.
Detective Kelsey reported that he noticed a deep rut in the blacktop and found that the passenger side rear axle on the outer tire had appeared to have blown.
Joyce was transported to the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Later Thursday evening just before 7:00 p.m., Tyler Logsdon (20) of Caneyville, was traveling on US 62 when he attempted to pass a dump truck around the 7000 block of Beaver Dam Road.
Logsdon cut the steering wheel to the left and drove off into a ditch, striking an embankment and nearly missing a head-on collision.
His 2001 Ford LX overturned three times, coming to rest facing eastbound in the ditch.
Logsdon suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital by private means.
Tuesday evening just before 6:30 p.m., a teenager who had just received their driver’s permit overcorrected the 1998 Ford Explorer they were driving, causing it to overturn.
According to an accident report prepared by Deputy Chris Bates, the teen was traveling on Hwy 479, about 14 miles south of Clarkson, when they stated they looked down to check if the headlights were dim.
The vehicle crossed the yellow line and the teen overcorrected, causing the Explorer to slide and overturn.
The teen and the passenger, Elizabeth Webb (36), both suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to an area hospital by Grayson County EMS.
