(Clarkson, KY) – An explosion in Clarkson Thursday morning, April 18, 2013, is being blamed on a can of ether.
Rick Clemons, Grayson County Sheriff, said he received a call from Mid Park Metal, who said a tractor-trailer semi truck parked in their lot had just experience an explosion.
Through Clemons’ investigation it was learned that there was a can of ether in the cab of the truck and it’s thought that the can had somehow suffered a leak.
The driver, Billy Deaton (Central City), was working with wiring behind the relay panel. There was an arch from the wires and it’s believed this ignited the leaked ether, causing it to explode.
The blast forced the front windows of the semi approximately 20 feet away.
Deaton was transported to the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center where he was treated for 1st degree burns.
The explosion happened around 10:30 a.m. The blaze was put out with a fire extinguisher.
