GCHS students and staff alike received honors during the FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) State Leadership Conference. The Culinary Team of Tommy Houchin, Dylan Heady and Connor Kinkade scored at the Bronze level and the Entrepreneurship Team of Autumn Milliner and Alyssa Haycraft scored Silver. Several students were recognized for their Power of One project and will also continue to Nashville in July to earn their National Award. They are Lyric Bratcher, Brooklyn Clark, Chase Day, Darrian Escue, Madison Geary, Julie Higdon, Kaitlyn Jackson, Winter Jutz, Renee Kipper, Emily Powers, Schyler Taylor, Jo Tratar, Ashley Vincent and Patrick Williams.
The chapter earned several awards including Gold Level Honor Roll. Jo Tratar will serve as 2013-14 Region 5 VP of Parliamentary Law. She will attend Leadership Camp this summer along with Jodi Decker, who was chosen to attend Freshman Academy. GCHS Principal, Todd Johnston, was also honored by Kentucky FCCLA with the Outstanding Administrator Award for his strong and continued support for student organizations.
