GCMS Team 4 has been honored by the Kentucky Middle School Association for their exemplary collaborative work with middle school students. The Teaming Award is given annually to “Teams That Make a Difference” with middle schoolers.
Carla Butler, Wendy Butler, Shane Decker, Lisa Robards and Lisa York have worked together for the past several years, supporting student achievement and providing enrichment to help them excel. They all devote a great deal of time the Cougar Zone after school program. They coach and sponsor extracurriculars. They collaborate to help students make connections between content areas and have developed many innovative strategies to bolster student success. They work to develop strong relationships and demonstrate that they want the best for each of their students, as they help steer them to improve as students and as budding citizens.
As state winners, they will now pursue the national award given by the Association of Middle Level Educators.
