Murder suspect found dead

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Authorities say a man suspected of killing a Louisville area woman died after an 11-hour standoff with police.

Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Larry Carroll told The Courier-Journal (http://cjky.it/12LXEob) that 48-year-old Gloria Ross was found outside her home Thursday evening with fatal shotgun wounds.

Shively police Sgt. Josh Myers says police went to a home Friday afternoon on a report that a suspect in Ross' killing was inside the home.

Authorities say the man held a gun to his head when police arrived.

Myers says the standoff ended early Saturday, when a SWAT team entered the house after negotiations failed.

Officers found the suspect dead inside the home. Authorities did not immediately release the suspect's name.

The site of the standoff was not far from Ross' home.
