Wife: Slain police officer will always be her hero

BARDSTOWN, Ky. (AP) — Bardstown Mayor Bill Sheckles says the city is adding $10,000 to a reward fund to help find the killer of a police officer who was gunned down over the weekend.

Bardstown Officer Jason Ellis was shot Saturday when he stopped to pick up debris on his way home.

Sheckles said Tuesday that the $10,000 is coming from an asset forfeiture fund. The amount raises the total reward being offered to more than $30,000.

Police Chief Rick McCubbin said there's no suspect or motive yet but he believe Ellis' death is linked to his police work.

Ellis' widow, Amy Ellis, told reporters Tuesday that Jason Ellis will always be her hero.
