NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (AP) — A Kentucky teen is presumed drowned in the Kentucky River.
The boy's family told WKYT-TV (http://bit.ly/15aCUZp ) he is 17-year-old Jacob Mulcahy (MUL'-key), who is a junior at East Jessamine County High School.
Jessamine County Sheriff's Deputy Anthony Purcell said the youth was among a half-dozen friends who went swimming on Wednesday. They were swimming across the river shortly after noon when Mulcahy began flailing and shouting for help. Despite efforts to reach him, the youth went under the surface and never came up.
Crews searched the river for him unsuccessfully and were to resume looking Thursday morning.
