Mother Jailed After Medicating Daughter

(Leitchfield, KY) – A Leitchfield mother has been arrested for giving her daughter her prescription medicine.
According to the Leitchfield Police Department, Samantha McStoots (34) gave her daughter, who is less than 12-years-old, the medicine on June 27, 2013. 
McStoots gave her daughter Abilifi, which is medication used to treat bi-polar disorder.
The girl had a reaction to the medicine and was transported to the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center by Grayson County EMS.
McStoots was transported to the Grayson County Detention Center and charged with Wanton Endangerment, 1st Degree and Criminal Abuse, 1st Degree.
The department is also seeking information in a burglary that occurred Sunday night at 11:19 p.m.
The perpetrator broke out a window of Vender’s Village to gain access to the indoor flea market.
Once inside, the criminal stole numerous gold rings before fleeing the scene.
The value of the items stolen has not been determined at this time.

A stern warning is being sent out by the police department to urge drivers to keep their vehicles locked and valuable items out-of-sight or locked in the trunk of the vehicle.
The department is receiving numerous calls of people having items stolen from their vehicles.
