Police: Man who fired at deputy threatened fire

BEREA, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky State Police say a man charged with firing a gun at an off-duty Madison County sheriff's deputy also threatened to burn down the officer's house.

Troopers charged 64-year-old Teddy Wagers of Berea with two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, two counts of menacing, third-degree terroristic threatening, resisting arrest and second-degree disorderly conduct.

Wagers pleaded not guilty to the charges July 8 in Madison District Court.

The Richmond Register reported (http://bit.ly/1dC3lJt ) that troopers found Wagers sitting in a lawn chair and pointing a gun at deputy Stacy Cummins' home on July 7.

After Wagers was in custody troopers say they discovered that Wagers also had threatened to burn Cummins' house.

Wagers remains in the Madison County Detention Center.
