Leitchfield City Council Review August 19th Review
LEITCHFIELD CITY COUNCIL MEETING REVIEW
LEITCHFIELD, Ky. -- The Leitchfield City Council held a meeting on August 19 to discuss 2013-2014 tax rates. A 4% increase was proposed, which would raise real estate tax to 12.1% and personal property tax to 18%. As a result of this proposed tax rate there would be a $15000 increase in revenue. The council did not vote on this subject and will come to a conclusion at a later date.
The Leitchfield Fire Department (LFD) also was a topic of discussion. Fire chief, Jerry Schlosser, proposed a low cost plan to create a dormitory environment in fire station two, located on South Main. Schlosser believes this will create a quicker night response that ultimately may save lives. More efforts are being made to improve response time. LFD and Grayson County EMS have agreed to have an ambulance stored at station one, located on Brandenburg Road, in the hopes of created a quicker response time for the residents of northern Grayson County.
Surplus equipment from the Public Works Department will be available for bids to general public. The surplus equipment includes eight vehicles.
