Trial Date Set in Former Detective's Case

A final pre-trial conference and jury trial date was set in the case of Terry Blanton (49), former Grayson County Sheriff’s Detective and candidate for Edmonson County Sheriff in 2006.
The felony charges against Blanton were filed by the Kentucky State Police on November 9, 2012.  Those charges include Theft of Controlled Substance and Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 2nd Degree, 1st Offense (Drug Unspecified, Schedule 3), and Hindering Prosecution or Apprehension, 2nd Degree, which is a misdemeanor offense.
Blanton had been employed with the Grayson County Sheriff’s Department for nearly eight years and had close to 20 years of law enforcement experience before his April 2012 arrest.
A final pre-trial conference has been set for Sept. 17, 2013 and according to Grayson County Deputy Court Clerk Angie Sharp, this will determine if a jury trial will commence or if a plea agreement will be reached between Blanton and the Commonwealth Attorney’s office.
If a plea agreement is not reached, a jury trail date has been set to begin on Sept. 23, 2013 in Grayson County Circuit Court.
