BREAKING: Blanton Pleads Guilty – Sentenced To Serve One Year

(Leitchfield, KY)  In a final step before a jury trial was scheduled to begin early next week, Former Grayson County Sheriff’s Detective Terry Blanton plead guilty today in a Grayson Circuit Court Pre-Trial Conference.  Blanton plead guilty to charges of theft of and trafficking in a controlled substance as well as to hindering prosecution.  The felony and misdemeanor charges were originally levied by Kentucky State Police on November 9, 2012. 
In the plea deal, Blanton will serve one year with no probation.  As of today, he remains a co-defendant in a civil case filed against he and current Grayson County Sheriff Rick Clemons.  The lawsuit filed June 20, 2013 in the US District Court, Western Kentucky District charges that Plaintiff’s John McGuffin and Marchmond Cottrell are owed relief due to lost income, medical and mental health expenses and requests the immediate return of property.  The suit claims the settlement will exceed $10,000,000.
