Aquatic Center update discussed at special called meeting

A special called meeting of The City of Leitchfield Tourism & Convention Commission was held on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 8:30 a.m., at City Hall.

Tim Murphy (with Murphy Graves) and Tommy Gumm along with Lea King  (with Alliance Corporation) were present to discuss the pending state approval on revisions requested.  They reported that the approval was to be completed by end of the business day.  Two change orders were given to the Commission that reflected additional costs to the project.  The first change order reflected additional piping and drains requested by the state.
The second change order reflected potential anticipated costs by the contractor due to the 60 day delay in starting work on the pool because of the state permit.   The total estimated costs associated with having to resequence work force and weather elements attributed is a guaranteed maximum price of $116,025.57 and would only come to play due to extreme bad weather.
Both Murphy Graves and Alliance agreed that there would be no additional fees on their ends for the change orders.  It was explained that due to the delays the opening would now be July 1st if the above change orders are accepted and the state approval goes through today.  Work would begin on Monday.    When asked where the additional funds would come from it was explained that the contingency fund of $150,000.00 plus any additional could come from the general account if needed.  After discussion,  Randy Pauley made a motion to approve both change orders.  Jeanna Carnes seconded the motion and the vote carried.  Note that Sue King voted against the motion.
Tim Murphy gave a recommendation of brick colors for the project.  Everyone agreed to go with his recommendation.

Approval was given by the state inspector to begin the pool Monday, November 4th.
