The Cincinnati chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations says the employees were terminated last month over prayer breaks. They say the employees had been using their break times for evening prayer. It says an apparent change by DHL on its flexible break policy led to the conflict.
The group says it has complained to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission that the workers were exercising legally protected religious rights. It says civil rights law requires employers to reasonably accommodate employee religious practices.
CAIR plans a news conference Thursday to detail its complaints. A request for comment was made Thursday to DHL Express.
