Grand jury indicts Hodgenville mayor, clerk

HODGENVILLE, Ky. (AP) — A grand jury has indicted the mayor and the city clerk of a small town in central Kentucky on 69 counts.

The News-Enterprise (http://bit.ly/1hYK0ZG) reports the indictments handed down Monday by the Larue County grand jury came after a long investigation that was prompted by complaints from residents.

Mayor Terry L. Cruse is facing charges that include abuse of public trust, theft by unlawful taking, not reporting campaign contributions and forgery.

The charges against City Clerk MaDonna Hornback include abuse of public trust and theft by unlawful taking.

The indictment accuses both of using a city-issued fuel credit card to make personal purchases and taking money from the city.

It was unclear whether Cruse and Hornback have attorneys. A message left early Tuesday at Hodgenville City Hall wasn't immediately returned.
