William H. Decker, age 93, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Sunday, (December 22, 2013) at his home in Leitchfield.
He was born on September 7, 1920 in Anneta, KY, the son of the late Harrison and Ida Stevenson Decker.
He was a carpenter and the oldest WWII U.S. Army veteran in Grayson County. He was strong in his faith, and enjoyed attending church services. He was a member of Mulberry Flats United Baptist Church.
He is survived by a son, Harold Decker and his wife Bonnie, of Shepherdsville; a daughter, Sandy Barton and her husband, Bucky, of Caneyville; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Noma Friedley of Brownsville.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-six years, Edna Jo Decker; a son, Richard Lee Decker; a daughter, Linda Pawley; two brothers, Iverson and Lloyd Decker; and a sister, Dona McGrew.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, (December 27, 2013) at the Mulberry Flats United Baptist Church. Bro. Jerry Weedman will be officiating. Burial will be in the church Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, and at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, with services following at the church.
