LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — There's more on the line than the records of the Louisville and Kentucky basketball teams when they meet Saturday at Rupp Arena.
Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer will host Lexington Mayor Jim Gray for a day of racing at Churchill Downs if No. 6 Louisville wins, while Gray is offering to take Fischer to Keeneland racing if No. 18 Kentucky is the winner.
Fischer and Gray plan to sit together during the game Saturday.
Fischer's office said in a news release Thursday that it was at the UK-U of L game three years ago that the two mayors came up with the idea of the Bluegrass Economic Advancement Movements, a collaboration to improve the economy of the 22-county Louisville-Lexington region.
