FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — The public is being given a chance to respond next week to Big Rivers Electric Corp.'s request for a rate increase estimated to boost monthly residential bills by about $25 to $30 per month, or about 21.5 percent.
The Public Service Commission held a public information session and meeting last month in Henderson, and a presentation from the meeting is available at http://www.youtube.com/kypsc .
The PSC will hold a hearing on Wednesday in Frankfort, with a simultaneous video conference in Brandenburg, Owensboro and Paducah. It will also be streamed live at http://psc.ky.gov .
The commission says Big Rivers has proposed drawing on reserve funds to offset rising rates. The utility estimates the funds would postpone the rate increase for large industrial customers until July and for residential and small commercial customers until April 2015.
