At the Clarkson City Council meeting last night, it was revealed that the city had received site and foundation approval from the Lincoln Trail Development Fund for construction to begin on the new Community Building, future home of the new Clarkson Town Hall. Full approval for the construction of the building is expected any day.
In a related matter, Clarkson Drugstore donated $3, 000.00 earmarked for the new construction, bringing the total donation tally for the erection of the building to $23, 388.00.
The council also approved the spending of just under $800.00 for the purchase of a security camera for the existing Town Hall location. Vandalism has been a problem in the area over the last few months, with a Coke machine being broken into and a car being vandalized. The council plans to move the camera to the new Town Hall when its offices relocate in the Community Building.
Finally, the council regretfully accepted the resignation of five-year City Council member Kay Gibson, and passed a resolution to thank Ms. Gibson for her dedicated service to the city.
