Covered bridge restoration almost complete

MAYSVILLE, Ky. (AP) — The restoration of a covered bridge in northeastern Kentucky is almost finished.

Arnold Graton, who is overseeing the restoration, told The Ledger Independent (http://bit.ly/1aDUiqI) that the Cabin Creek Covered Bridge project should be completed in about three weeks.

The $1.2 million project in Lewis County was funded through a transportation enhancement program. Work began in 2009.

The span in was originally built in 1873 and is one of 13 covered bridges in the state that are still standing.

Grafton says he hopes small vehicle traffic will be able to use the bridge after the restoration is completed.
