Political filing flurry as deadline approaches

With the January 28, 4:00 p.m. deadline to file candidacy papers to run in the May 20 primary election less than 24 hours away, a flurry of filing activity took place at the County Clerk’s Office on Monday.

Democrat Gayle Ford of Clarkson filed intentions to run for the 5th District Magisterial position where Ford will face incumbent Republican Brad Brown, along with Democrats Kenneth Alvey and Leslie Gibson.

Incumbent Republican County Coroner Joe Brad Hudson filed his candidacy papers, and will be challenged by Democrat Jonathan L. Decker.

Incumbent Leitchfield City Council Members Harold Miller and Margaret Alvey-Fey also filed papers to retain their seats.

Mark Williams and Allen “Goober” Sanders, both Republicans, filed papers for the 5th District Constable position where they will challenge Republican Joshua Sanders.
