The Kentucky Society for Human Resource Management and the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce has named Twin Lakes Regional Hospital one of the best places to work in Kentucky for the second year in a row.
The competition is a multi-year initiative designed to motivate companies in the Commonwealth to focus, measure and move their workplace environments toward excellence. Numerous studies show a strong correlation between profitability and creating a good place to work. The Best Places to Work in Kentucky initiative is based on FORTUNE magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work for in America” list.
The selection process, managed by Best Companies Group, is based on an assessment of the company’s employee policies and procedures and the results of an internal employee survey.
“We are honored to receive this recognition for the second year in a row,” hospital CEO Wayne Meriwether said about the honor. “It says a lot about the commitment of staff toward their jobs and their coworkers.”
Meriwether, in relating how supportive the atmosphere is at the facility, shared a story about a Twin Lakes Regional Hospital employee who recently had a family member in the hospital, and was touched by the concern her coworkers expressed for her and her family member’s well-being.
“The love and concern that I get from my coworkers has made a bad diagnosis much easier to bear. There is always a kind word, an answer to a question, an offer of help,” she said. “I don’t have the words to express how much I appreciate this facility and the people who work here. We do patient care the way it’s supposed to be done; not for the money, but for love of the patient and concern for their outcomes.”
The hospital will be officially recognized and honored at an awards dinner on April 24 at Heritage Hall in the Lexington Convention Center.
