Ernest Commodore Wilkins, age 83, of Clarkson, KY, passed away Tuesday, (January 28, 2014) at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield, KY.
He was born on September 8, 1930 in Caneyville, KY, the son of the late Guy Sr. and Anna Mae Swift Wilkins.
He was a retired sales agent for Washington National Insurance Company, and owner of Commodore’s Custom Cabinets. Ernest enjoyed being involved in the community and was a people person. He also enjoyed woodworking as a hobby, playing Rook, and other card games. He was a member of the New Freedom Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Miller Wilkins, one son, Ernest Wilkins, Jr. and wife, Deborah of Bowling Green; one daughter, Kathy Conrad of Bowling Green; two step-sons, Gregory Gibson and wife, Cricket, of White Mills, and Vance Gibson of Leitchfield; three grandchildren, Jessica Wilkins, Garrett Gregory Gibson, and Nicholas Conrad; two brothers, Murrell and Roy Wilkins; one sister, Jewell Farris, all of Leitchfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Guy Wilkins, Jr. and three sisters, Ruby Mudd, Cuba Woosley, and Marie Woosley.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, (February 1, 2014) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bill Farris will be officiating. Cremation will follow the service.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services.
