On Monday night the Clarkson City Commission agreed to send out a second phase of fundraising letters to potential donors to help finance the construction of the new City Hall and Community Center. So far, the city has accepted just over $20,000.00 in donations, as well as donations for goods and services related to the construction.
After discussion, though, the commission opted to wait until construction begins to send out the second phase of letters.
Final construction approval on the 4,800 square foot building still hasn’t been given by the state, but is expected at any time, with construction to begin as weather permits.
Donations toward the construction are accepted at Clarkson City Hall and the Bank of Clarkson.
The commission also discussed how to best honor those who donated money toward the cost of construction. It was decided that a permanent display of some type will be erected in or around the new City Hall and Community Center to publically thank those who gave of their money, materials and labor toward the completion of the project.
The commission also deemed March 2nd and 3rd as “Read Across America Days” in the City of Clarkson.
