Teddy Ray Strickland, age 64, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Wednesday, (February 19, 2014) at the Grayson Manor Nursing Home in Leitchfield, KY.
He was born on November 22, 1949 in Montgomery, WV, the son of the late Rex Edward and Cornia Pauley Strickland.
Ted worked in customer service in the lawn and garden center at Walmart and was a custodian for The Grayson County Board of Education at Caneyville Elementary. He was a veteran of the US Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 81, who enjoyed playing football and baseball in his youth and watching sports on television in his later years.
He is survived by 3 daughters; Jennifer Jo Strickland, Allison Strickland Rose, Michelle Strickland, all of West Virginia, a son; Teddy Ray Strickland II also of West Virginia, and 2 step-daughters; Bobbi Lewis of Alabama, Tammy Bollen of Washington, 2 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, 1 step great-grandson, a brother; Robert Strickland of Florida and a sister; Eloise Hicks of Georgia. He is also survived by his close friends Tommy Cook, Doris Strickland and Earnie Alvey.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters; Betty Jane, Anna Mae, Juanita, Alice Jo and Phyllis Jean, a brother; Rex Edward Strickland Jr., and a son-in-law Daniel Rose.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, (February 23, 2014) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Pastor Doug King will be officiating. Burial will be in the Leitchfield Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 9:00 a.m. Sunday until time of services.
