In a story K105 first reported last night, on Thursday afternoon the Leitchfield Police Department responded to a report of the theft of utilities at Sander’s Radiator & AC located at 415 Mill Street in Leitchfield.
The investigation revealed that Leitchfield Utilities had shut off both water and natural gas service at the business on or about January 24. At that time, the meters for the utilities were removed. When utilities workers came back to check on the disconnected meters, they observed that the water meter had been bypassed and the lock on the natural gas line had been removed; the line had been bypassed with a vehicle radiator hose in order to supply the business with utilities.
The owner of the business, Tommie "Sarge Miller," was arrested at the scene and charged with Theft of Services and Wanton Endangerment in the First Degree. He was transported to the Grayson County Detention Center.
The Leitchfield Police Department and Leitchfield Utilities would like to remind everyone of the dangers involved with tampering with any type of utilities. Natural gas is highly volatile and can cause fires and or explosions if a leak occurs.
