One of the Bloomington Road bridges over Bear Creek will be replaced with an updated bridge structure made by Hornback Construction, who presented the Grayson County Fiscal Court with the lowest of three bids. Hornback's bid for the work came in at $139,950.00.
The other two bids presented to the court were by Do-All Construction ($164,766.00), and Scott & Murphy ($226,400.00)
The current bridge span is a low-lying concrete structure often submerged under water when heavy rains come, making safe passage nearly impossible. The new bridge, according to engineer Brad Spalding, will be a pre-cast concrete box, beam-curb overflow structure. The new bridge will make it nearly impossible for Bear Creek to flow over the roadway.
The bridge work, to be completed this summer, is a 100-percent FEMA financed project.
