The Leitchfield Fire Department responded to a barn fire on Monday morning about 6:30 at 714 Claggett Road. The fire was extinguished without incident and there were no injuries reported.
Also on Monday morning, a Grayson County school bus slid off the roadway at 1077 Mt. Zion Road about 6:50, burying the bus in mud up to the door. There were 15 to 20 students on board, but none were injured.
All the students were offloaded onto another bus by 7:45.
Some secondary roads in the area were icy on Monday morning, making travel difficult in spots.
Monday morning's spotty slick roads comes on the heels of Sunday night's weather event which brought ice and snow fall in the early evening hours. Numerous wrecks, particularly on the Western Kentucky Parkway, kept police busy until about 10:00 on Monday night.
Most of the accidents were minor in nature, and involved vehicles sliding off the road. But there was a woman, five months pregnant, injured in a single-car accident on Brandenburg Road. She was taken to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center with a minor head injury.
Interstate-65 at Elizabethtown was closed for a short time because of the highway being littered with wrecked vehicles. After the highway was quickly re-opened, traffic was slowed to a crawl for several hours.
