James “Don” Fisher, 70, of Pine Knob, passed away Tuesday, March 25th, 2014 at his residence.
He was born on January 24th, 1944 in Louisville, the son of the late James Orville and Mildred (Rogers) Fisher. Don was a 1962 graduate of Southern High School and also graduated from United Electronics. He was a welder for International Harvester, Ford Motor Company and for a time had a thriving business restoring cars.
In retirement, Don served on the board of Pine Knob Lake Association and helped many in his community, both Pine Knob and Grayson County. He was a member of Church of Joy in Leitchfield. As a Christian, Don’s faith in Christ was the source of his joy and brought comfort to him in his final days.
He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Lori Fisher; his mother, Mildred Fisher of Louisville; his son, Bobby Fisher of Louisville; his daughter, Tina Fisher Shumate also of Louisville; one brother, Michael Fisher (Pat) of Louisville; one sister, Gale Fisher Rogers (Eddie) of Bardstown; three sister-in-laws, Rosalie Kallay of Cedar Lake, IN, Delores Arnett (Jack) of Elizabethtown, TN and Theresa Mauke (Marshall) of Chesterton, IN; two grandsons; one great-grandson; several nieces & nephews and extended family.
Graveside services will be Friday, March 28th at 12:00 Noon CST at the Pennsylvania Run Road Cemetery in Louisville. Pastor Lowe will be officiating.
Friends may call at the Dermitt-Joyce Funeral Home in Caneyville Thursday after 4:00 p.m.
