After much anticipation by city officials, Clarkson will at last be reclassified a 5th class city beginning July 15. Clarkson was classified as a 6th class city.
Governor Steve Beshear signed House Bill 398 into law yesterday, reclassifying nine Kentucky cities. The bump in classification for Clarkson will allow city officials to seek and create additional revenue streams, which will bolster the city's efforts at enriching the lives of its residents.
“Should it pass, it would allow (Clarkson) to pursue other options in terms of generating revenue, which would be used to help fund existing city services and potential new community projects in the future,” said Clarkson City Commissioner Scotty Gore a few weeks ago.
