The Leitchfield City Council agreed on Monday night to purchase a new, John Deere 310SK Backhoe Loader, at the state contract price of $91,289.00. The city currently owns two backhoes, one of which is 16-years old, the other, 22-years old.
The new backhoe, which should arrive sometime in early July, will be used on Leitchfield streets, while the current street backhoe will be moved to the transfer station. The 22-year old backhoe will be sold.
Public Works Director Sheila Puckett said that city workers notated the options they need on the backhoe, which was then built to their specifications.
