Major two-car accident sends three to ER

The Leitchfield Fire and Grayson County Sheriff’s Department responded to a two-vehicle collision in the 3800 block of Brandenburg Road on Monday afternoon about 5:00.

A silver Chevrolet Silverado got sideways in the roadway and was T-boned by a tan Grand Am, propelling both vehicles off the road and into a ditch. The truck was in reverse at the time of the wreck.

A truck driver for Donnie Thompson Trucking, John Huffman of Greensburg, arrived at the scene immediately after the collision and pulled a small child from the smoking Grand Am. The child had a cut on his lip. The boy’s mother, in the front seat of the car, was conscious and asked for her child even though she was in severe leg pain.

Two of the three passengers in the Grand Am were transported by EMS to Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. One Grand Am occupant refused treatment. The driver of the truck was also transported to the ER.

Brandenburg Road was closed to traffic while first responders worked the scene and the vehicles were towed.
