Judge Executive: Woosley to officially take over at GCDC on June 2

Grayson County Judge Executive Gary Logsdon says that newly elected Jailer Jason Woosley will take over at the state’s only financially self-sufficient Detention Center in the first week of June, after the surprise retirement of current Jailer Darwin Dennison.

Dennison will officially step down on May 30.

“He’s been at the jail for eight years (Dennison), and the elections over, so Jason is the new jailer and he’ll be the one to take over” the remainder of Dennison’s term, Logsdon said.

Ask when Woosley would officially take over at the Detention Center, Logsdon said, “Probably be the second (of June). Yeah, we’ll (Fiscal Court) put him in then.”

Magistrate Harold Johnson told K105 earlier in the day, “I feel like Jason’s been in there doing Darwin’s work for some time.”

Logsdon feels the same way.

“I think he (Woosley) was chief deputy (jailer); Darwin’s still at the jail, but Jason has a great understanding of the job. I have no doubt Jason will do a great job.”

Woosley was overwhelmingly elected Grayson County Jailer on Tuesday with over 63 percent of the vote.
